Dale Earnhardt Jr. will drive the No. 3 Wrangler car for JR Motorsports in the Nationwide Series race at Daytona this summer, he confirmed Friday.
Dale Jr. Confirms: He’ll Drive The No. 3 At Daytona This Summer
↵Darrell Waltrip of Fox Sports first broke the news on Twitter, something Earnhardt Jr. wasn’t happy about.
↵An official announcement and unveiling will take place on Thursday.
↵“DW sort of blew the lid off it, and on Twitter, no less,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “That kind of ruined our announcement.
↵“We didn’t want to have to annonce it like this, so we will do it when we had it originally planned, and that is all I can tell you about it.”
↵This isn’t the first time Earnhardt Jr. will have driven the No. 3 (his father’s legendary number) since Dale Earnhardt Sr. was killed in 2001.
↵In 2002, Earnhardt Jr. drove the No. 3 during Busch Series events during Daytona Speedweeks and at Charlotte in May.
