Over at Buffalo Rumblings, they note that while WR Marcus Easley has skills, his selection went against the philosophy the Bills set out before the draft.
Buffalo Rumblings: Is WR Marcus Easley A One-Year Wonder?
Bills GM Buddy Nix disclosed his aversion to one-year wonders at his introductory press conference last December, but that’s exactly what Buffalo is getting in Easley. His physical talent is elite; he’s 6’3”, weighs 210 pounds and can cover 40 yards in 4.46 seconds. But until he broke out with a 48-catch, 893-yard, 8-touchdown senior season, Easley had exactly five – yes, five – receptions over the first three years of his collegiate career.
Easley is capable of stretching the field vertically. But he is very much a project receiver that rose up draft boards thanks to some very solid pre-draft workouts. He enters a very green Bills receiving corps, where he’ll compete for playing time alongside the likes of James Hardy, Steve Johnson and Chad Jackson.
