Jameer Nelson Scalds Bobcats in First Quarter
To the right is Jameer Nelson’s shot chart from the first quarter of today’s Bobcats-Magic tilt. As you can see, he’s shooting the lights out in the first home playoff game in Bobcats history (that X is actually a Bobcats miss) and carrying the Magic so far, scoring 19 of the team’s 29 first quarter points and setting a franchise record for points in a quarter in the playoffs.
It’s not anything new for Nelson in this series; he had 32 points in a Game 1 victory. But it is nice to see Nelson thriving in the playoffs after injuries knocked him out of much of the Magic’s run to the NBA Finals last season.
Other NBA luminaries are taking notice, too. Stephen Curry tweeted the following:
⇥⇥⇥Wow! Jameer cant miss! 18 in the 1st?!⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥⇥Jameer aka Jonny Blaze is out there killing!⇥⇥⇥
Hey, if the nickname’s good enough for one of the NBA’s best rookies, it’s good enough for me.
Of course, the Bobcats were less impressed: They rallied back in the second quarter and took a five-point lead into halftime.
