Joey Logano caused the Big One when he spun Ryan Newman on the first green-white-checkered attempt, resulting in a nine-car wreck.
What Was Joey Logano Thinking With Talladega Wreck? He Explains Here
So what was Logano thinking?
He said pushing Newman had been working all day, and the two were about to team up to do a two-car breakaway.
“It looked like it was going to work,” Logano said. “I was pushing him pretty hard and we were going up toward the front and I just must have got into him a little bit of the wrong way and got him loose.
“Then everything broke loose on that one.”
Logano took full blame for the incident, saying, “It was my fault.” The young driver said “it stinks” that the field rides around for most of the race and then it comes down to whoever pushes whom at the end.
“You’re pushing, pushing, pushing until someone spins out, I guess,” he said. “It’s a tough deal.
“It’s my fault, and I just felt so bad for all the cars that wrecked.”
