Video: Usain Bolt Runs 100 Meters in 8.79 Seconds at Penn Relays

It’s a treat of this life that we all get to see Usain Bolt run. This video isn’t particularly good, but in it you get to see Bolt run the anchor leg of a 4x100 meters relay in 8.79 seconds at the Penn Relays. If that doesn’t make your eyes pop, just watch the video again.

Bolt’s almost more sensation than sensational athlete at this point, getting cheers for warming up and thrilling everyone who sees him run. But we take him for granted because he seems alien, far ahead of his competition and history and further ahead of time. He’s a freak in the kindest sense of the word, an athlete who bends our understanding of possibility and amazes us time and again.

And we have no clue where his peak is. Bolt seemed carefree after blazing his 8.79 and helping Jamaica set a Penn Relays record.
