• Michigan State. The Only Colors applauds the best 6-yard run ever:
In the second quarter, 360-lb. Antonio Jeremiah lined up at fullback, took the hand-off from Cousins, and rumbled through the line for six yards before being tackled by what had to be a stunned Jon Misch. I don’t expect this to be a goal-line play for MSU this season as the handoff was slow to develop, but I believe there’s no higher form of entertainment than watching an offensive lineman rumbling down the field with the ball, leaving the crushed bodies of safeties and cornerbacks in his wake.• Penn State. Black Shoe Diaries has a roundup of beat reactions here and a lament for the state of the offensive line here:
The left offensive tackle situation is a huge problem. I thought Eliades looked okay at right tackle, but Quinn Barham at left tackle did not impress me at all. Eric Latimore had his way with him all day. But the flip side of that is that Latimore looked awesome, so maybe he has had a breakout spring and is set to be a major player on the defensive line.•Minnesota. The Daily Gopher has an exhaustive recap of Saturday’s scrimmage offense:
Even though it is very early in the Horton tenure it appeared as though everybody was on the same page. The plays were diverse but nothing appeared too complicated. This is all very high level but I liked the diversity of run plays called, I liked that we ran a few screen passes, I liked that when it was a short yardage situation we ran the ball hard and the routes run seemed to give our quarterbacks good options. I love the use of screens to keep a defense on their heels and although the execution wasn’t as crisp as one would like to see, I like that we ran a few screens throughout the day. Ultimately it really looked like the players were playing and not thinking.
