Goalie Shoves Defender, Presumably Under The Bus
↵
↵Defenders are going to screw up from time to time, making situations difficult for a goalie. That’s the nature of team sport and the goalie has to try to rise to the occasion. Obviously, the more frequently such lapses occur, the more critical teammates are permitted to be of one another. ↵
↵Though most would agree that the pitch isn't the best place to express that frustration, especially if it takes the form of a shove, as it did during Saturday's match between Celta Vigo and Villarreal B. in the Spanish Segunda Division league. A Villarreal B attacker broke through for a goal in the 86th minute, which prompted Celta goalie Yoel Rodriguez to charge to midfield to confront and have it out with midfielder Roberto Trashorras for allowing the opposition such a perfect opportunity.↵
↵↵Not long after the game, Yoel called a press conference to apologize for his actions, and even claimed he didn’t recall what he said to his teammate. The capacity to be blinded by homicidal rage isn’t necessarily the best quality in a goalie, though hopefully the club’s hefty monetary penalty imposed will help jog his memory of the incident in the future.↵
