Two of “The Ultimate Fighter’s” most celebrated alumni will finally meet inside the Octagon in the live finale of Spike TV’s “The Ultimate Fighter: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz” on Saturday, June 19 at 9:00pm ET/PT. Emanating from The Pearl at The Palms Casino and Resort in Las Vegas, the “Dean of Mean,” Keith Jardine (Season 2) takes on Matt “The Hammer” Hamill (season 3) in a matchup pitting Jardine’s unorthodox striking against Hamill’s powerhouse wrestling. The winner will move further up the ranks in the UFC’s ultra-competitive light heavyweight division, with the loser taking a tremendous step back in his pursuit of a title shot.
Matt Hamill v. Keith Jardine To Headline The Ultimate Fighter Finale
- From a Spike TV press release
This very well could be the last chance for Keith Jardine in the UFC. He is currently on a three fight losing streak and is 2-5 since 2007. Granted, those five losses are all to ranked fighters with the exception of Houston Alexander. But still, you have to be able to get wins to justify a spot in the UFC’s very deep light heavyweight division.
As for Hamill, he’s picked up three straight wins since losing via TKO to Rich Franklin. Most fans would be quick to point out that his last win was by DQ against Jon Jones in a fight where Hamill was getting trounced. Still, Hamill has good power and Jardine has a bad chin. It’s easy to see Jardine getting slept for the third straight fight.
