In Progress: Magic Have Chance To Put Finishing Touches On Series With Bobcats

Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - Vince Carter scored 21 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter and Orlando, despite another sub-par effort from Dwight Howard, completed a first-round sweep of Charlotte with a 99-90 Game 4 victory.

Jameer Nelson totaled 18 points, Rashard Lewis 17 and Matt Barnes 14 for the second-seeded Magic, who will play either Atlanta or Milwaukee in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The Hawks and Bucks are even after four games of their series.

Howard had six points and 13 rebounds before fouling out for the defending Eastern Conference champions. He had 39 points and 37 rebounds, while going 13-for-35 from the foul line over the four contests.

Orlando, which became the first team in the NBA to make it through to round two, swept a best-of-seven series for the first time in franchise history.

Tyrus Thomas scored 21 for the Bobcats, who made it to the playoffs for the first time in franchise's six-year history. It was a bright season though for head coach Larry Brown and new Bobcats owner Michael Jordan, considering the team didn't win more than 35 regular season games prior to the 2009-10 campaign.
