MMA Junkie reports that the strange turn of events involving David Loiseau beind denied a license to fight at UFC 113 due to alleged organized crime ties has led to a return to the UFC for Jason MacDonald:
Jason MacDonald Returns At UFC 113 As Late Replacement Against John Salter
A source close to the event informed MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today that UFC veteran Jason MacDonald (24-13 MMA, 5-5 UFC) will face John Salter (4-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the non-televised portion of “UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun II.”
Salter was due to face UFC veteran David Loiseau, but “The Crow” was not cleared by the Montreal Athletic Commission, as earlier reported by The Canadian Press.
MacDonald was released from the UFC after his loss at UFC 97 to Nate Quarry. He followed that up with a decision loss to Travis Lutter at MFC 22 and then went on a three fight win streak, most recently beating fellow UFC veteran Matt Horwich at LGIO MMA 1.
Salter (4-1) is coming off his first career loss to Gerald Harris at UFC Fight Night 20.
It’s a strange turn of events for MacDonald to go from outside the UFC to late replacement in a bout where he will likely be the favorite.
