At last, a top recruit has resisted the siren song of John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats. After seemingly locking in every top player for the next two seasons, C.J. Leslie -- the 14th-rated prospect in the 2010 class -- has spurned the Wildcats and committed to North Carolina State, according to Scout.com.
Top Recruit C.J. Leslie Commits To North Carolina State
The 6'8'', 205-pound Leslie is one of the top power forwards in the 2010 class, and comes from Word of God Academy (the same school Kentucky superfrosh John Wall attended), just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina. Leslie had originally verbally committed to the Wolfpack following his freshman year of high school, but had recently begun considering Kentucky and UConn as well, before announcing his decision on Wednesday.
Leslie is a versatile, athletic big who should be able to flip between both forward spots, and his commitment immediately gives North Carolina State head coach Sidney Lowe one of the top recruiting classes in the nation. Leslie will join his close friend (and top-25 recruit) Ryan Harrow, as well as guard Lorenzo Brown.
The ACC just got a whole lot more interesting.
