Canucks Powerless to Escape Commercially Successful Fratellis Song
↵
↵Pretty much every team in every professional sport has a poppy song queued up for whenever they deliver a goal, a run, a touchdown or whatever the comparable huge moment is in the respective sport. For the Chicago Blackhawks, that song is The Fratellis’ “Chelsea Dagger”, a rollicking track by the Scottish rock band. Unless you’re a fan of the band or the Blackhawks, you’re probably best familiar with it being featured in this Amstel Light ad from 2008.↵↵With the Canucks set to visit Chicago for Game 1 on Thursday, hearing the signifier of their rival’s success isn’t very high on their list of priorities. Especially when it was the second round of last year’s playoffs that the Blackhawks dispatched Vancouver in six games. However, in a bizarre effort to further frighten the team’s players, or maybe to inoculate them to the mystical powers of a pop rock hit, a local TV news crew buttonholed members of the Canucks and made them listen. Their resulting repellent expressions made it a worthy endeavor. ↵
