On Friday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Atlanta Hawks 93-88 to secure the top seed in the Eastern Conference. It was the 60th win of the season for the Cavs, as well as the team’s tenth straight win at home.
SB Nation Blogs: Hawks Feisty, But Mediocrity Will Not Beat Cavs In Playoffs
Our Cavs blog, Fear the Sword, looks forward to the remaining six games of the regular season:
The final hurdle - at least during the regular season - comes with the next victory or Lakers loss. That would clinch the NBA's best record for the 2nd straight season and home court througout the playoffs and NBA Finals. The Cavaliers accomplished the same feat last year but couldn't take advantage. This year seems different. The Cavaliers may not win as many games, but they are a better team - built to win in May and June.
The first steps are completed. The rest - and best - is yet to come.
Meanwhile, our Hawks blog, Peachtree Hoops, points out a hard and obvious truth: that mediocrity will not be good enough to beat LeBron and the Cavs in the playoffs.
