You are about to buy an American basketball team New Jersey Jersey Nets. What prompted you to this?

The love of basketball and interest in business. On the one hand, I want to make the New Jersey Nets a strong team. On the other hand, this project will allow us to enter the real estate market in New York. In two years, once the new arena is built, the Nets will move to Brooklyn.

↵Brookyln! The borough hasn’t been host to a major sports team since the Dodgers skipped town in 1958 (the Mets may or may not apply here). So, is it possible that Prokhorov is buying the Nets primarily as a real-estate venture? Neighborhoods such as SoHo are home to plenty of independent mom-and-pop NBA teams; here’s hoping the Nets can find a niche.
