Nelson Becomes All-Time Winningest NBA Coach In Warrior Win

Minneapolis, MN (Sports Network) - Anthony Tolliver scored a career-high 34 points and grabbed eight rebounds, as the Golden State Warriors held off the Minnesota Timberwolves, 116-107, to make Don Nelson the NBA's all-time winningest coach.

Nelson now has 1,333 career victories, one more then former legendary coach Lenny Wilkens.

Rookie sensation Stephen Curry chipped in with 27 points, 14 assists and eight boards, while Chris Hunter donated 14 points off the bench for Golden State, which suffered a 112-94 loss at Washington on Tuesday but has now won three of its last four. Despite the win, the Warriors are still a dismal 7-32 on the road this season.

Ryan Gomes and Jonny Flynn each posted 19 points, with Flynn adding eight assists for the Timberwolves, who have lost three straight and 19 of the last 20 overall. Kevin Love had a solid game with 17 points and 18 boards in defeat.

Golden State led, 31-28, after the opening quarter, then went up by double- digits, 51-40, after Anthony Morrow drained a three-pointer at the midway point of the second. The Warriors were up by as many as 14 but settled for a 68-57 advantage at the break.

The Warriors used a 16-6 run to start the third to blow the game up and grab a 21-point lead, 84-63, approaching the midpoint of the quarter. Tolliver and Reggie Williams each accounted for five points apiece during the surge.

Gomes scored the last six points of the third with a trey and three-point play, but the Timberwolves still trailed, 99-78, after three.

The Warriors had a seemingly comfortable lead throughout the fourth, but Minnesota was able to make a late push to get to within four, 108-104, on a pair of Gomes free throws with 43.6 seconds remaining. However, it wouldn’t be enough for the Timberwolves, as Morrow hit eight in a row from the stripe down the stretch to seal the historic win.

The Warriors won all three matchups versus the Wolves this year and earned their first season series sweep from Minnesota since 1991-92...Curry added a career-high seven steals...Golden State shot 56.1 percent from the field and 8-of-16 from three-point range, while Minnesota made 48.1 percent of its shots.
