Penske Racing’s Justin Allgaier threw out the first pitch at last night’s Washington Nationals game.
Justin Allgaier Throws First Grounder – Er, Pitch – At Washington Nationals Game
↵Kind of.
↵Allgaier, who visited victory lane in the Nationwide Series for the first time last month, one-hopped his pitch to home plate. It was fairly accurate, but it was also fairly short.
↵For his efforts, Allgaier received boos from the crowd (many of whom were always-cynical Philadelphia Phillies fans).
↵Allgaier put his hands up after the pitch, as if to concede he deserved the boos.
↵“Little disappointing, I have to admit,” Allgaier said. “But it was about a foot short, and in life I’m about a foot short, so that was normal.”
↵Allgaier had insisted he wasn’t nervous before the pitch, and warmed up his arm before taking the mound.
↵But he did have some big shoes to fill – the previous first-pitch thrower for the Nationals was President Obama.
