136th Kentucky Derby Figures To Be Historic, No Matter Who Wins

The 136th Kentucky Derby is about an hour away, but already it seems likely that at least one Derby record will be broken.

The highest-priced favorite in Derby history had 6-1 odds (Harlan’s Holiday in 2002). As of this writing, the 2010 Derby favorite, Lookin At Lucky, stands at 7-1. If these odds hold up until the race, it would be a new record.

Another record is in jeopardy. The rainiest Derby, held in 1918, dumped 2.31” of rain on southern Louisville. Today’s weather, while intermittent, may well smash this record.
