Reliever Juan Cruz was released by the Kansas City Royals a few weeks ago as part of a roster shakeup, the team having grown weary of his underperformance. Well, if nothing else, at least we may now have a better understanding of why he underperformed:
Shoulder Surgery Knocks Juan Cruz Out For Season
FYI: Reliever Juan Cruz is having season-ending shoulder surgery today. He was cut by the Royals earlier this season.
The news doesn’t mean much, as Cruz hadn’t yet latched on with a team and hasn’t been effective since 2008, but he still had a live arm and would’ve drawn some interest as the summer wore on. Instead, he’ll go under the knife and attempt to stir up some interest as a free agent again over the winter.
