Once again, Tim Tebow and Florida have come out on top of the football world. Okay -- and calm down, 'Bama faithful -- not in exactly the way Florida's multi-talented golden child envisioned prior to the season. But while the Gators fell short of defending their BCS title, the state of Florida did boast the most players taken in the 2010 NFL Draft, per USA Football.
Florida Wins Battle For NFL Draft Supremacy
↵Florida’s 34 draftees paced the field, with Texas coming in second with 26 and California right behind at 25 former high school players. Of course, considering these are three of the most populous states, this shouldn’t be too surprising. If you take a look at draftees per capita, however, a different picture emerges: after Hawaii, Louisiana, Florida and Georgia lead the way. With that kind of high school pipeline, no wonder the ESS-EEE-SEE has made the rest of the college football landscape its own little fiefdom the past half decade.
↵The bottom line: the Big Ten can expand to 64 teams if it wants, but it’ll still be the SEC’s whipping boy on the gridiron. And it wouldn’t even all be Jim Tressel’s fault.
