Video: An Embarrassingly Slow Lap Around Charlotte Motor Speedway

The nice people at Toyota gave a few untrained race car drivers (actually media members) a chance to drive the Camry Hybrid pace car around Charlotte Motor Speedway this week, in hopes of putting 600 miles on the car in honor of the upcoming Coca-Cola 600.

↵It’s one thing to cover racing every week; it’s another to actually try driving around the track. As you can see in his video, I attempted a few laps with limited success.

↵My top speed in the 15-20 laps I drove was only 105 mph. The sad thing is, it felt fast. Check out this video in which I think I’m going fast, but you can actually see how embarrassingly slow I’m traveling.
