First Dude Places Second At 2010 Preakness Stakes, Is Actually Second Dude

First Dude gave itself an opportunity to win the 135th Preakness Stakes, but its impressive rally fell just short after the final turn. Lookin At Lucky ended up with the win, and First Dude placed.

This is a horse that entered post time with 25-1 odds. If you picked this horse to win on the basis of the name alone, congratulations!

First Dude was jockeyed by Ramon Dominguez. He was trained by Dale Romans and owned by Donald R. Dizney.

Here’s what our horse racing blog, And Down The Stretch They Come, had to say about First Dude prior to the race:

The second Dale Romans trainee in the field, First Dude finished 3rd in the Blue Grass and 5th in the Florida Derby earlier this spring. Like a lot of horses in this race, he’s run fairly well on a number of occasions but he doesn’t wow you. And he’s never run big against top competition. He might be a little short on class in the Preakness.
