Jackson Bend Places Third At 2010 Preakness Stakes, Delivers Another Payout For Nick Zito

Legendary trainer Nick Zito has yet another win to add to his resume. His 135th Preakness Stakes horse, Jackson Bend, ran a consistent race to place third.

Jackson Bend was jockeyed by Mike Smith, and is owned by Robert La Penta and Fred J. Brei. The horse’s odds remained relatively consistent throughout Saturday, and stood at 11-1 at post time.

Here’s what our horse racing expert, Matt Gardner from And Down The Stretch They Come, had to say about Jackson Bend before the race:

Jackson Bend: Nick Zito’s colt made a big move in the middle stages of the Derby to pull within 2 3/4 lengths of the lead and then flattened out to finish almost 20 lengths back at the wire. That was the first time in his career that Jackson Bend didn’t finish first or second, which certainly makes one think the colt has a better race in him.
