It’s become clear heading into NASCAR’s All-Star break that Paul Menard’s fast start to the season was a fraud.
Paul Menard Fooled A Bunch Of People
↵You know what I’m talking about. A couple months ago, Menard was ninth in points and everyone was wondering how a perennial top-30 driver was suddenly in the top 10.
↵There was a big “Told you so!” from the few Menard fans and stories were written about Menard’s breakout season.
↵Menard himself cautioned against assuming the hot start would last (if you can call finishing 13th, 18th and 17th in the first three races a “hot start”). And he was right.
↵In the last six races, Menard hasn’t finished inside the top 20. He’s now 23rd in points and has no shot of making the Chase.
↵But yet, no one seems to have mentioned his decline. Our guess is because no one is that surprised.
