Yesterday, you might’ve known Raul Mondesi as the former Major League outfielder, the guy nicknamed “Buffalo” by his teammates, the guy with the attitude, the tools, the 30-30 seasons, and the quick fade from productivity to retirement. Now? Now you might know Raul Mondesi as the soon-to-be leader of 221,000 people.

Researching this story is made difficult by the language barrier, although I did find out that, according to government official Juan Temístocles Montas Dominguez, Mondesi "will not remove Feedback awful purple."
↵Montas Dominguez also referred to Mondesi - who for a few years has had a seat in the Chamber of Deputies - as a failure as a player and a failure as a legislator. The people of San Cristobal would not be the first that Mondesi has wowed with his potential, only to disappoint after a few years of underachievement. If life truly imitates baseball, the next election in San Cristobal will be won by Shawn Green.
