According to the official site of the Florida Marlins, Hanley Ramirez was removed from Monday night’s game against the Arizona after fouling a ball off his left ankle. Every other outlet out there says Ramirez did indeed leave the game but it was actually because he was benched for dogging it.
Hanley Ramirez Branded A Lollygagger
Ramirez committed a costly error in the second inning after Tony Abreu’s looper dropped near him in short left field. The star shortstop accidentally kicked the ball about 100 feet toward the left-field corner and loafed after it, allowing two runners to score as Abreu advanced to third.
Though Ramirez did indeed foul a ball of his ankle, manager Fredi Gonzalez confirmed that he pulled Ramirez for his lack of hustle.
This on the same day Ramirez wantonly introduced visiting cricket players to dangerous chewing tobacco. Somebody’s got some thinkin’ to do.
