Tyrik Rollison Leaving Tiger Town

Backup Auburn quarterback Tyrik Rollison has asked for and received a release, and plans to transfer to Sam Houston State. He was a touted prospect out of high school, but his road with the Tigers has been a rocky one:

[Rollison] was one of the top recruits in Auburn’s 2009 class. He came close to earning the backup job to Chris Todd last August but instead redshirted.
His path to playing time became complicated this offseason, however. He was suspended from the Outback Bowl for academics and moved down the depth chart when junior college transfer Cam Newton joined the program in December.
Even though he’s been supplanted by Cam Newton, I think Rollison can really learn from the former Gator’s career path. All he needs is a year in FCS and he can catch on at another big-time program (although stealing a laptop in the interim would help).
