New York Yankees righty Javier Vazquez probably surprised a lot of people Friday night when he pitched six-innings of one-hit ball against the Mets. Unfortunately for Vazquez, the outing was cut short due to what appeared to be a finger injury.

With the Yankees already leading, 2-0, Vazquez dropped a sacrifice in the seventh inning to move Kevin Russo along to third base.
After the play, Vazquez was seen in the visitors' dugout at Citi Field receiving attention from head athletic trainer Gene Monahan and assistant athletic trainer Steve Donohue. As Vazquez retreated to the clubhouse, Donohue was holding one of Vazquez's fingers.
After being signed by the Yankees in the off-season, Vazquez has had a tough start, racking up an ugly 8.01 ERA in 2010 coming into Friday’s start.
UPDATE: FanHouse’s Ed Price reports that X-rays turned up negative.
