Watching Racing Is Dangerous, As If Anyone Needed A Reminder

Two men were injured when an airborne car at a New Hampshire dirt track crashed into the pit area Sunday night, the Associated Press reported.

↵The men were watching a race at Big Daddy’s Speedbowl in Wentworth, N.H. when a car got into the wall, took a violent turn and got airborne, according to the story.

↵Fortunately, neither man sustained life-threatening injuries.

↵Still, this should serve as another reminder that watching racing is always dangerous. Race tracks have walls and catch fences separating cars from spectators, so some fans may be lulled into a false sense of security.

↵

But with drivers pushing cars to their limits and teetering on the edge of losing control always leaves the possibility for disaster.

↵There’s nothing like watching a race in person. It’s just worth remembering that the action may not always stay on the track.
