UFC Ultimate Fight Night 22 Announced, Gleison Tibau v. Jim Miller Added To Card
The next installment of the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Spike TV-televised event series, UFC Fight Night, takes place Sept. 15 and serves as a lead-in for the debut episode of “The Ultimate Fighter 12.”
A source close to the event today alerted MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) of the event plans and said the show tentatively is targeted for an East Coast market.
Additionally, as MMAWeekly.com first reported today, a recently rumored bout between Jim Miller (17-2 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and Gleison Tibau (21-6 MMA, 6-3 UFC) is expected to be part of the night’s televised main card.
Miller/Tibau is a very interesting fight. Both men are decent on the feet and very good on the ground. Both men also are able to work more effectively from the top than bottom so wrestling will likely play a big part in this fight. Miller probably fuses a well rounded game together slightly better than Tibau but Gleison is one of the biggest 155 pounders there are.
The fight could also possibly have title implications down the road as Miller is now 6-1 in the UFC with the lone loss to Gray Maynard. Tibau is 7-4 in his UFC career, but has won four of his last five bouts.
