We blog writers have an occasionally irritating tendency to pick on minor errors made on mainstream media broadcasts and websites. Granted, some of the gaffes can be very funny, but were such intense and biting scrutiny placed on us for making similar trivial errors, we likely wouldn’t be as thrilled about it.↵
This Is Why Buildings Need Copy Editors

↵↵But then again, our writing doesn’t often appear on the side of a building. At least until our partnership with Allied Electronic Billboards is finalized, which we all pray it will. Until then, it’s probably okay to make fun of the folks who work at Chicago’s CNA building, for misspelling “HAWKS” with the lights on Sunday. Instead, the people in the Windy City got “AHWKS.”↵

↵↵And the error wouldn’t actually be so bad if the Blackhawks hadn’t completed their sweep of the Sharks. Now fans are forced to wonder if the misspelling is actually good luck. Of course, Chicago swept San Jose, so it’s probably effective either way, but you don’t want to introduce complexity into this sort of thing, especially during such superstitious times as the NHL playoffs. All it will take is one loss for people to wonder, then who knows what kind of wacky permutations of letters we will see?↵
