The UFC held a press conference today in which they announced the opening of a Toronto office as well as announcing that former CFL commissioner Tom Wright would be the head of UFC Canada.

Prior to his time with the CFL Wright had positions such as heading up Adidas Canada. He has much experience in a figurehead role and this should serve him well. His run with the CFL is generally regarded as extremely successful as the league increased in popularity significantly during his time in the role. He also showed the fortitude to not be pushed around by the powerful team owners.
Dana White also announced that the promotion plans on making a strong push to hold an event in Toronto, where the new office would be opened. White expanded that they also planned to open a UFC gym in the area. It is all a part of expanding in the very hot Canadian market.
