In the opening bout of the Spike TV portion of the card former Ultimate Fighter winner Efrain Escudero was about to outwork a game Dan Lauzon to take a unanimous decision. Neither man was able to do much by way of damage in the first round but Escudero was clearly dictating pace and position to take the round. In the second Escudero opened up with a nice flurry early in the round to make a clear statement. As Lauzon faded, Escudero continued to pour on pressure.

In the third round it was more of the same before Escudero landed a kick to the cup of Lauzon. The foul resulted in a point deduction for Efrain, but it would not matter. All three judges scored the bout 29-27 for Escudero who rebounded from his first career loss at UFC Fight Night 20 to Evan Dunham.
