Indians Pitcher David Huff Carted Off After Taking Line Drive To Head

During Saturday's Yankees-Indians game, Cleveland pitcher David Huff was hit in the head by a line drive off the bat of Alex Rodriguez.

The lefthander immediately fell to the ground and lay motionless, facedown for several minutes as team trainers, doctors and paramedics tended to him. He was eventually turned onto his back, and appeared to be moving all of his extremities. He was stabilized, put on a backboard and carted off to an ambulance waiting for him at the service gate in left-center field.

Huff was conscious at the hospital and didn’t appear to suffer any memory loss, and a CT scan came back negative. Thankfully, it appears as though the most pressing issue is the timetable for Huff’s return.

Entering Saturday’s game, Huff held a 5.25 ERA in 48 innings pitched this season.
