Juan Pablo Montoya said last weekend that he’s not impressed by Darlington – or really any other NASCAR track, for that matter.
Darlington Doesn’t Impress Juan Pablo Montoya
↵They all have the same feel to him, he said. He shows up, gets in the car, does the best he can and goes home.
↵“When you don’t have the history behind the place, it’s very hard to say, ‘Oh my God, this place is magical,’” he said of Darlington. “I don’t want to sound like an ass about it, but it’s hard.”
↵Montoya said growing up, he had heard about how big the Indianapolis 500 was, but still wasn’t blown away the first time he went there.
↵Now that he’s raced at Indy a few times, Montoya said “you start understanding why people say that” the Brickyard is “hallowed ground.”
↵
“I haven’t found that in Darlington yet,” he said, “but if you ask (team manager) Tony Glover, he’ll think that’s the Holy Grail of NASCAR.”
