Over the past week Darren Sharper has been making the free agent rounds finding his next home. Various reports had indicated he would prefer to stay in New Orleans and, according to Pro Football Talk, that’s what he’ll do. PFT reports Sharper will return on a one-year contract.
Darren Sharper Returns To The Saints On A One Year Contract
It’ll be interesting to see what kind of contract Sharper received. The Saints made an offer to Sharper a few weeks ago and said that’s what they were sticking to.
Some have speculated that he was taking various free agent visits, such as the one in Jacksonville last week, in order to get the Saints to increase their offer.
According to the report from PFT, money wasn’t the primary factor here. Sharper, 34, wants to pursue another championship.
Sharper likely would have signed earlier in the free agency period if a knee injury hadn’t sidelined him starting in early March.
