As the season gets further and further along, the odd trend of NASCAR winners with first names beginning with either a J or K gets even stranger.
The J/K Streak Of NASCAR Winners Continues
↵First noted by reader Kallie Parsons, every winner of every NASCAR race this season except for Phoenix – when Ryan Newman spoiled the party – has had a J or K name.
↵That includes the Budweiser Shootout (Kevin Harvick) and the Gatorade Duels (Jimmie Johnson, Kasey Kahne). It also includes three race wins by Denny Hamlin, whose real first name is James.
↵In total, 16 out of 17 NASCAR Sprint Cup races have now been won by J/K names.
↵The trend may be alarming to fans of people like Mark Martin, Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle, but it could be good news for Juan Pablo Montoya, who has yet to win.
↵Unfortunately for Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans – “Junior” may start with a J, but that’s not his real name.
