Simon Gagne returned back from a broken toe far faster than is probably safe for a player to return from. That is the Stanley Cup Playoffs though. Our Flyers site, Broad Street Hockey, notes that Gagne’s return was the main reason that Flyers won Game Four. From BSH:
Simon Gagne’s Return Was Spark Flyers Needed
We don’t know the outcome of this semifinal series with the Bruins will be, but we do know that if you ever needed any kind of momentum, that’s one of the ways you would write it up. It’s almost creepy how similar Gagne’s OT winner tonight was to his OT winner back in 2004 against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
It was in the exact same spot on the Wachovia Center ice, he celebrated in the exact same spot behind the net, and both of them kept the Flyers’ season alive.
The Flyers still need to win three more games while the Bruins only need to win one to take the playoff series. After last night’s game though, it still gives Flyers fans one thing they need more than anything else, hope.
