It took one awful failure in judgment from Paul Daley to go from a potential title shot to the job market. Following being positionally dominated for three rounds by Josh Koscheck, Daley followed Koscheck as he walked away after the final bell only to land a sucker punch. Koscheck had clearly frustrated Daley with his gameplan, he also pulled off a rather shameful acting display after an illegal knee from Daley barely landed to the side of his head and finally spent most of the third round on top talking trash.
Kimbo Slice And Paul Daley Cut From UFC
It was enough to set off Daley and push him into the most shameful moment of his career.
At the post fight press conference Dana White had the following to say:
“[Paul Daley] He’s done. I don’t give a sh*t if he’s the best 170-pounder in the world. He’ll never come back here again. I don’t care if he fights in every show all over the world and becomes the best and everybody thinks he’s the pound-for-pound best in the world. He will never fight in the UFC ever again.”
“There’s no excuse for that. These guys are professional athletes. You don’t ever hit a guy blatantly after the bell like that whether you’re frustrated or not. It was probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen.”
This, of course, comes on the heels of the Strikeforce on CBS post-fight brawl which likely had to somewhat dictate White’s reaction.
Also at the post-fight press conference White announced that Kimbo Slice would be released from the promotion following his loss to Matt Mitrione. There aren’t a lot of options for Slice in the UFC if he can’t hang with 1-0 Matt Mitrione.
I have no doubts we’ll see both men scooped up by Strikeforce with very little delay.
