Now we know what Dontrelle Willis plus cash commands on the trade market. By sending the former star to the Diamondbacks, the Tigers got right-hander Billy Bucker, who is 0-3 with a 11.08 ERA in three starts this season. And 6-11 with a 6.25 ERA in 36 career starts over four years.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Jon Heyman, Detroit will pay all of Willis’ contract except for a pro-rated share of the league minimum of $400,000. Dontrelle is owed $12 million this year as part of the three-year, $29 million deal.
There’s a chance Dontrelle could be back pitching in Detroit in a few weeks, as the Diamondbacks visit Comerica Park for a weekend series June 18-20. For the time being, however, a rather disappointing tenure in the Motor City is officially over.
