Lightweights Clash When Cole Miller And Ross Pearson Meet At UFC Fight Night 22
There’s a fantastic lightweight battle brewing between up-and-coming 155-pound prospects Cole Miller (16-4) and Ross Pearson (11-3), currently under consideration for the UFC Fight Night 22 card on September 15 in Texas.
MMAmania.com can confirm the two sides have been approached after Ariel Helwani brought word of the proposed match-up back on May 29.
Miller was hoping to build off his “Submission of the Night” win over Dan Lauzon back at UFC 108: “Evans vs. Silva” last January; however, an undisclosed injury forced “Magrinho” to withdraw from his scheduled throwdown with Andre Winner at UFC Fight Night 21 in March.
Miller is a talented lightweight but lacks any marquee wins, with most of his success coming against men who are no longer with the promotion. Meanwhile, former Ultimate Fighter winner Pearson has pulled off very good wins over men like Aaron Riley and Denis Siver.
It’s likely that Pearson enters the bout as the favorite and a win will advance him toward a title shot but he’ll still be behind the top group of men like B.J. Penn, Gray Maynard, Frankie Edgar and Kenny Florian.
