Dick Vitale Shakes Off Line Drive, Calls The Next Shot

↵Whatever your feelings about Dick Vitale, the guy has shown some fortitude in recent years. He battled throat lesions that were thought to possibly be cancerous, only to return to the booth. Apparently, the 71-year-old (his birthday was Wednesday) is also tough enough to take a line drive off his chest like it was nothing. That’s what happened last night at the Tampa Bay Rays game against the Blue Jays. Vitale has season tickets for the Rays and claims that it’s the first time in 11 years that a line drive foul ball has come into his section. Then, when being interviewed about it on the broadcast, he calls Carlos Pena’s home run as it happens.↵
