Stop me if you've heard this one before: an outfielder for the Boston Red Sox is going on the DL with broken ribs after colliding with Adrian Beltre.
Adrian Beltre Sends Another Red Sox Outfielder To DL As Jeremy Hermida Has Broken Ribs
This time, it’s Jeremy Hermida.
BOSTON -- One week after his collision with teammate Adrian Beltre, Red Sox outfielder Jeremy Hermida learned that five of his left ribs were fractured. This after an MRI on Friday morning led to Hermida being placed on the disabled list.
Hermida’s hit just .217 on the season with a .268 OBP, but he gathered significant playing time after Jacoby Ellsbury went down following a similar incident. Hermida hopes that he isn’t out long, but with his DL stint, Ellsbury’s DL stint, and Mike Cameron playing hurt, there are rumblings that the Red Sox will look for help from outside the organization.
In the meantime, Bill Hall and Darnell McDonald will stay busy. Read more at Over The Monster.
