On Friday, Rich Harden took the loss while allowing four home runs to the Brewers. On Saturday, he was sent away for a little while:
Struggling Rich Harden Disabled With Strained Left Glut
Rich Harden has landed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left gluteus muscle, and right-hander Alexi Ogando has taken his place on the roster. The Rangers won't need to fill Harden's spot in the rotation until June 19 at Houston, and a decision hasn't been made on who will that role.
It’s been a very up-and-down season for Harden to date, as his velocity has bounced to and fro and on only one occasion has he allowed fewer than two runs. Overall, he’s had difficulty getting deep while walking six batters per nine innings, and though he was better in May than he was in April, June hasn’t been too kind, seemingly setting him back to square one. So the Rangers will take this time to see if they can get him figured out away from the diamond.
Ogando is a reliever who’s coming up from AAA, where he struck out 21 batters in 15 innings. Between AA and AAA on the year, he has 42 strikeouts and 11 walks, his mid- to high-90s fastball giving hitters a lot of trouble. He will bolster Texas’ relief.
