Video: Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan Puts Home Game-Winning Penalty After Serbia Handball
Serbia was favored by some to make a deep run in the 2010 World Cup. They’ll have to climb out of a hole after today’s poor finish against Ghana.
A handball in the box from Serbia’s Zdravko Kuzmanovic gave Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan the chance to put the Black Stars ahead in the 85th minute from the spot, and he did, scoring the only goal in the 1-0 final.
Kuzmanovic was only part of Serbia’s late collapse; Aleksandar Lukovic was sent off for his second yellow card in the 74th minute, and Serbia struggled to defend with just ten men late, leading to Ghana claiming the first victory by an African team in this World Cup.
