Ted Lilly Has No-Hitter Through Eight Innings

For postgame recaps and opinions, check out our Cubs blog, Bleed Cubbie Blue and our White Sox blog South Side Sox.

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Ted Lilly did not allow hit through eight innings and Chad Tracy drove in the game's lone run, as the Cubs avoided a sweep with a 1-0 win over the White Sox in the finale of their three-game interleague series at Wrigley Field.

Lilly (2-5) stayed on for the ninth, aiming to record the fourth no-hitter in the majors this season, but a clean single over the middle to center field by pinch-hitter Juan Pierre to begin the frame ended the bid and the left- hander's outing.

Carlos Marmol took over on the mound and managed to record his 13th save despite loading the bases.
