Nationwide Preview: Bucyrus 200 from Road America

It’s time for some Road Course Racing Nationwide Style. This will be the first Nationwide Race at Road America ever and this will be the first time a Nascar event has been held at Road America since 1956, which is the only Nascar event ever run here. Tim Flock won that race.

I urge everyone to check this race out.

The field will be populated by a few Cup drivers and a whole lot of Road Course racers. I wish I had tickets to this event. But sadly I am poor.

We have a lot of new faces to cover, so I’ll break it down for you driver at a time.

So, Lets begin. Kevin Lepage will move from the #56 car to the #04 for this race.

Easy enough, Now, Victor Gonzalez will race the #05. It’s not the first time we’ve seen Gonzalez. He will also race in Canada.

Robb Brent is in the #09 car this week.

Tim George Jr will be racing the #21. They are no longer sponsored by Zaxby’s for every race now that John Wes Townley has been pulled from the car for the rest of the year.

Alex Kennedy will race the #23 car. Kennedy is a street driver, and should do pretty well in the Nationwide car.

Owen Kelly will drive the #27 car. Owen is an Australian Driver. Hopefully he can get a full time ride so we can see him and Marcos Ambrose fight it out.

Jacques Villeneuve will drive the #32 car this week. Jacques has won at Road America in the Cart series.

Ron Hornaday Jr will pilot Kevin Harvick’s #33 car this week. Hornaday brings his Longhorn sponsorship with him.

Tony Ave will drive in the #35 car for Jason Keller. Ave has raced in the cup series for Front Row Motorsports, so shouldn’t have any trouble in a Nationwide car.

Kevin O’Connell will drive Scott Lagasse’s #43 Ford. I was a bit shocked to see them pull Lagasse from the car. Scott has been driving very well for the underfunded team.

Joey Scarallo will be in the #56 for Lepage. I have never heard of this guy before. He was a late entry this week.

Kyle Kelley will bring his K&N series team up to Nationwide this week. It will be the first attempt for the #59 team.

Josh Wise returns to the #61 this week. So J.R. Fitzpatrick will drive the #7 car.

Antonio Perez will drive Joe Nemechek’s car this week, as Nemechek is in Sonoma for the Cup race.

Ron Fellows, no stranger to Cup and Nationwide, will drive the #88 this week.

Patrick Long will drive the #90 car, which means that they intend to try and race the entire race this week.

Same goes for Andy Ponstein and the #92 team.

Wow. What a list. There are 43 cars entered for this event, which means that everyone makes it this week.

So, Tune into ESPN 2 this Saturday at 3:30 pm Eastern to watch the Nationwide Boys take on Road America in the Bucyrus 200! Enjoy!
