Wayne Rooney Paints An Enthralling Picture of World Cup Life

We know the English team is faced with a sex embargo while stationed in South Africa for the World Cup, but surely there are other things to do to pass the time between matches. According to Wayne Rooney: eh, not so much. Here’s his rather succinct summation of his daily routine since arriving in Rustenburg:↵↵⇥“Breakfast, train, lunch, bed, dinner, bed.”↵↵That sounds like a lazy man’s paradise, but coming from an out-and-about guy like Rooney, I suppose it is a bit drab. He wants to live the lifestyle to which he is accustomed, not an insular and quiet one.↵↵⇥Rooney admitted: “I don’t enjoy sitting round just doing nothing, it’s horrible.↵⇥↵⇥“Lying in bed at two in the afternoon, that’s quite boring.↵⇥
↵⇥↵⇥“Thankfully the games are on now so that takes a bit of the boredom away but sometimes it’s a long day.”↵⇥
↵↵Considering the World Cup is once every four years, Rooney can probably withstand a month or so of mundane living. And also: hey, it’s the World Cup. You only get to play in so many of those - if you get to play in any at all. It’s not all bad, Rooney, you did get to take in a round of golf the day after the draw with the U.S. You even peed on a rock. Maybe not to international superstars, but to some people, that’s a lot of excitement.↵
