As you may have heard, we here at SB Nation have been launching quite a few regional sports sites the past few weeks. By the beginning of July we’ll be up to twenty sites, so keep checking back if your city doesn’t have its very own regional site yet.
Introducing SB Nation Minnesota, Where Joe Mauer Is MVP
And that brings me to the business at hand: extending a very warm welcome to SB Nation Minnesota, led by the very excellent Christopher Gates of our Vikings blog, The Daily Norseman, along with a team of some of the best sports bloggers the great state of Minnesota can boast. Due yourself a favor and check out the site.
As part of their launch, the guys at SB Nation Minnesota put together a list of the top five most popular athletes in the state. Joe Mauer was unsurprisingly their very own MVP, with everyone’s favorite fantasy superstar Adrian Peterson taking home the second spot, (former) mullet extraordinaire Jared Allen third, Mikko Koivu fourth and Justin Morneau rounding out the list.
And really, it’s hard to quibble with that list...with the exception of the notable omission of a certain, decisive, Wrangler-wearing gunslinger who just loves tossing the pigskin around. Clearly John Madden did not have any input into this list. Nor did T’Wolves GM David Kahn, who obviously would not approve of no point guards making the cut after seemingly trying to corner the market on the position last summer.
