White Sox fans will probably not be happy with me for focusing on the Nationals’ Stephen Strasburg tonight. After all, as of this writing, opposing starter Gavin Floyd has thrown five shutout innings (Strasburg allowed a run in the first).
Stephen Strasburg Strikes Out Sox Swinging (Sorry)
↵But Strasburg, while pitching an inferior game to Floyd’s, has struck out nine in five innings, As MASN’s Ben Goessling notes, Strasburg has set a record tonight.
↵
↵Another changeup to get Ramirez. And #Strasburg has broken the record for the most Ks in a pitcher's first three starts.
↵
↵Eight of the nine were swinging strikeouts. I submit that if all the power generated by Strasburg by forcing his opponents to swing could somehow be captured and stored, there would be enough of it to power a small kitchen appliance. That isn’t hyperbole. I’m serious here.
