Seems that Georgia’s new mascot -- Uga VIII -- won’t be ready for Georgia’s first game. Whomever he might be; at this point, the family in charge of the Ugas has not selected the next in line, so fill-in Russ will be used for a few more games.
Vetting Uga VIII Will Take A While Longer; Russ To Rule For Now
↵↵Seiler has identified several puppies -- offspring of the Uga VI line -- as candidates to become Uga VIII, but none will be big enough by the start of the season. Puppies in a new litter due this month also might be considered.
↵“I think he wants to ease [the dog] into the season, like we do freshmen sometimes,” [university President Michael] Adams said.
↵↵Why not make Russ the permanent replacement? He’s too old.
↵If you think this is overly picky, you obviously don’t pay attention to Georgia football very much. Naming the appropriate Uga is a big deal; after all, it has to be a damn good dawg.
